Rotor blade repair

> Objectifs

The module enables participants to identify, assess and document damages to rotor blades and also to carry out repairs according to industry standards and document the repair work. Key elements include rotor blade access techniques, blade construction and the materials used, followed by the selection of appropriate repair measures and their reliable performance.

Vocational training in mechanics or electrical engineering, Basic knowledge of wind turbine technology, Knowledge of working with fiber reinforced composites

  • Specify order of procedures for working on and in rotor blades
  • Describe the construction of rotor blades and the materials used
  • Outline the range of blade access techniques
  • Determine repair measures based on the damage documentation
  • Name the tools and devices needed for the inspection of rotor blades
  • Name the chemical, physical and mechanical properties of repair materials
  • Describe permissible climatic conditions for rotor blade repair work
  • Outline possible hazard encountered in working on and in rotor blades
  • Classify repair materials as hazardous materials
  • Demonstrate how to de-energize the turbine
  • Select and apply a range of blade access techniques and turbine-specific inspection procedures
